CAPNCM Provides Quality Women’s Health Services
Many women living in northern Missouri rely on Community Action Partnership of North Central Missouri for their health-care needs. Community Action Partnership of North Central Missouri Women’s Health Services clinics are open to everyone living near our service area, regardless of age or financial situation. Fees for our confidential services are charged on a sliding scale based on the patient’s income; private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid are also accepted, as well as donations from patients and the public. CAPNCM’s Women’s Health Services schedules around 100 clinics per year where women can receive their annual breast and reproductive system examinations, family-planning information, and other related services from our on-staff nurse practitioner. The health clinics also provide limited services to men, most often related to reproductive health. Reproductive health services provided through the clinics include: complete examination of the female reproductive system, Pap Smear tests to check for early signs of cancer, breast examinations, diagnosis and treatment of minor gynecological problems and diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. Staff can also provide education on birth control methods and on natural family planning. Birth control supplies are also available at the clinics. While the staff of Women’s Health Services focuses mainly on reproductive health, they do refer patients to other medical and mental health providers when needed. More women are seeking low-cost reproductive health services while state and federal funds to help pay for these services continue to be cut. Nearly 350,000 Missouri women use publicly supported contraceptive care and the money spent on public health services is not wasted. For every government dollar spent on family planning services, an average of $7 is saved as a result of averting short-term expenditures on medical services, welfare and nutritional services. Regular annual examinations also can detect cancer and other diseases in early, treatable stages, saving patients and the public even more money. CAPNCM’s Women’s Health Services offers clinics in Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Daviess, Grundy, Harrison, Linn, Livingston, Putnam and Ray counties. Most clinics are conducted during business hours, but some evening and weekend clinics are scheduled.
