Staff members from the Community Action Partnership of North Central Missouri assisted with unloading the commodities truck for the Brookfield Ministries Food Pantry. CAPNCM is currently participating in Community Action Month, an annual May celebration of the accomplishments of Community Action Agencies across the country that fight poverty every day, by providing essential programs that empower families with low-incomes to achieve economic self-sufficiency. In honor of this year's Community Action Month, the agency is urging everyone to donate non-food items to their local food pantry, such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap, and other toiletries. EBT (food stamp) cards cannot be used to purchase these items and supplies food pantries receive are often limited. In addition to donations, agency staff will also be visiting food pantries within all nine counties of their service area to offer a helping hand. For further information about CAPNCM, Community Action Month, or area food pantries, persons are urged to visit capncm.org or call 855-290-8544.
